Merge PDF Files Free — No Size Limit, No Upload

Need to merge PDF files free online with no size limit? Combining PDFs is one of the most common document tasks — joining a contract with its addenda, combining large PDF files from multiple report sections, or consolidating scanned pages. PDFree merges PDFs of any size directly in your browser: no file size limit, no daily limit, no upload to any server. No signup required.

How to Merge PDF Files in 3 Steps

1
Add your PDF files

Click Choose files or drag multiple PDFs into the drop zone at once. You can add as many files as you need — there is no limit.

2
Arrange the order

Drag the file cards up or down to set the exact order the pages will appear in the final document. Reorder as many times as you like before proceeding.

3
Merge and download

Click Merge PDF files. Processing takes seconds (longer for very large files). The merged PDF downloads directly to your device.

Two optional extras live below the file list before you click Merge: Create bookmarks adds a named bookmark for each file so you can jump straight to it afterward, and Insert blank pages adds a blank sheet between files — handy for double-sided printing. Both are off by default.

When to Merge PDFs

Contracts + addenda

Clients often sign the main agreement and amendments as separate files. Merge them into one PDF before archiving or uploading to a contract management system.

Academic submissions

Many university portals accept only one PDF. Combine your cover sheet, paper body, appendices, and bibliography into a single submission file.

Client reports

Merge an executive summary, charts, raw data tables, and supporting documentation into a single professional PDF to share with clients.

Scanned multi-page documents

If you scanned a multi-page form one page at a time, merge all the individual page PDFs into a single document before submitting.

Bulk document batches (50–100+ files)

Monthly invoices, legal exhibits, annual report chapters — when you need to combine 50 or 100 PDFs in one click, PDFree handles them all with no file count limit. Your device's RAM is the only constraint, not an arbitrary server cap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a file size limit for merging PDFs?

There are no artificial paywall limits. PDFree processes files locally in your browser — no subscription required. For the best experience, keep the total batch under 300 MB; larger batches may be slower on low-memory devices.

Does PDFree store or log my files after processing?

No. PDFree runs entirely in your browser — there is no backend server that receives your files. Because nothing is uploaded, nothing can be stored, logged, or retained. Your document exists only in your browser's memory for the duration of the session and is cleared when you close the tab.

Does merging PDFs work offline?

Yes. PDFree is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Once loaded, it works fully offline — no internet connection required for processing.

How many PDF files can I merge at once?

There is no limit. PDFree processes everything in your browser's memory, so you can merge 2, 50, or 100+ files in a single operation. For large batches (50+ files or 500MB+ total), close other browser tabs to free up RAM. The tool was built by someone who needed to merge 83 PDFs at once — that's exactly the use case it's designed for.

Will the formatting and fonts be preserved after merging?

Yes. PDFree uses pdf-lib, which copies pages at the PDF object level — fonts, images, vector graphics, and formatting are preserved exactly as in the originals.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be read or modified without the password. Remove the password first using a PDF tool, then merge.

Is there a daily limit on how many merges I can do?

No. PDFree has no usage caps. Merge as many PDFs as you want, as often as you need. There is no daily limit, no task limit, and no file count limit.

Does merging upload my files to a server?

No. Your files are processed entirely in your browser's memory. Nothing is sent to any server. Close the tab and the files are gone from memory — no trace on any server.

Can I merge PDFs on a phone or tablet?

Yes. PDFree works in mobile browsers (Chrome for Android, Safari for iOS). Drag and drop is replaced by a file picker, and reordering works by tapping the up/down buttons.

Are bookmarks and hyperlinks preserved when I merge PDFs?

Links are preserved, including links that point to a specific page — even across files, they're correctly remapped to the merged document. Each source file's own pre-existing bookmarks don't carry over automatically, but turning on "Create bookmarks" before merging adds a fresh bookmark for every file, named after it, so you can jump straight to where each original document starts inside the combined PDF — visible in your PDF reader's Bookmarks or Table of Contents panel.

Can I insert a blank page between each merged file?

Yes. Turn on "Insert blank pages" and choose Always (a blank page after every file except the last) or On odd page count (only when a file's own page count is odd). This is mainly useful for double-sided printing — each original document starts on a fresh sheet instead of partway through the previous one.
