Scanned manga volumes and many digital editions store two-page spreads as a single wide image or PDF page. That's fine on a screen, but it breaks printing, e-readers, and page-by-page reading — the spine ends up in the middle of a panel. A spread can be split by rendering each page to an image and cropping it in half — but that throws away the original text and line quality and bakes in whatever resolution the screenshot happened to use. PDFree crops the actual PDF page content instead, so text stays selectable where the source PDF had real text, and image quality is exactly what the source page already had — nothing is re-encoded or resampled in the process.
